Hibiscus Island & Palm Island Community Information
Hibiscus Island and Palm Island are man-made islands located in Biscayne Bay between Miami’s mainland and Miami Beach. Think of them as a private tropical getaway in the middle of a rich urban context. They are guard-gated communities with some of the most luxurious homes in South Florida, accessible via the McArthur Causeway that parallels Government Cut known as “Cruise Ship Alley”.
Hibiscus Island lies just north of Palm Island – and both still carry evidence of their celebrated history. In the Mid-century, this location was the site of the famous Latin Quarter Nightclub owned by Lou Walters (father of Barbara Walters), and was THE venue for known entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Dean martin, Tony Bennett and Jerry Lewis. It was also the winter home of notable figures like Al Capone and other celebrities who built fabulous waterfront estates in the two islands.
The islands’ location could not be any better, with just a short drive to South Beach or Downtown Miami, it’s easy to enjoy famous restaurants, beaches and The Fine Arts District. The islands are surrounded by the bay which attract boating enthusiasts from all over the world and not the mention The Miami Yacht Club located just west of the islands. But you don’t really need a boat to enjoy living on Hibiscus or Palm islands – should be enough with impressive homes, exclusivity and proximity to popular areas, if you need a rationale.
